Additional Product Information

RENT1, also known as UPF1, is a key regulator of the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) pathway. The NMD pathway eliminates mRNAs that prematurely terminate during translation and may serve to protect the cells from dominant-negative effects of truncated proteins, or as a means to regulate protein expression. RENT1 is an ATP-dependent 5’- 3’ RNA helicase and ATPase that localizes to the cytoplasm and is part of a post-splicing multiprotein complex as well as an mRNA decay complex.

Alternate Names

ATP-dependent helicase RENT1; delta helicase; HUPF1; nonsense mRNA reducing factor 1; NORF1; pNORF1; regulator of nonsense transcripts 1; RENT1; smg-2; smg-2 homolog, nonsense mediated mRNA decay factor; UPF1 regulator of nonsense transcripts homolog; up-frameshift mutation 1 homolog; up-frameshift suppressor 1 homolog; yeast Upf1p homolog

Applications

All western blot analysis is performed using 5% Milk-TBST for blocking and as antibody diluent. Primary antibody is incubated overnight.

Western blots of cell lysates are performed using Goat anti-Rabbit IgG Heavy and Light Chain Antibody (Cat. No. A120-101P).

Western blots of immunoprecipitates are performed using Goat anti-Rabbit Light Chain HRP Conjugate (Cat. No. A120-113P) with 5% Normal Pig Serum (Cat. No. S100-020) added to the blocking buffer.
