Sanger Sequencing for Molecular Diagnostics

Sanger Sequencing - considered the foundation of DNA sequencing - is a method that results in different sized fragments of DNA with fluorescently labeled dNTPs that can then be run on electrophoresis to determine the nucleotide sequence of DNA by size and fluorescence of the correlating dNTP.

Although Sanger sequencing has mostly been replaced by next generation sequencing (NGS), it is still used to validate clinical NGS tests in order for benchmarking. In addition, Sanger sequencing can be used for sequencing of small genomic regions and verifying plasmid sequences.

At Fortis Life Sciences, we offer OEM products including Taq Polymerase with exonuclease activity (Cycle Sequenase) and TAPP for breaking down pyrophosphatase. These enzymes can be custom formulated into master mixes. Additional enzymes, proteins, or master mixes can be custom designed for developing sanger sequencing assays. We offer these custom services and will provide the highest accuracy and precision working collaboratively with you.
