Carrier-Free Antibodies
Carrier-free antibodies are particularly useful in applications where the presence of additional proteins can interfere with the assay or experiment. Fortis Life Sciences offers a subset of the Bethyl antibody portfolio in BSA-free format.
Antibody Conjugation and Labeling
Carrier-free antibodies are crucial for antibody conjugation and antibody labeling without requiring buffer exchange. These antibodies are compatible with a variety of conjugates and conjugation chemistries including fluorophores, enzymes, and epitope tags.
Immunoassays
The presence of BSA in antibody formulations can increase the signal-to-noise ratio and decrease the sensitivity of immunoassays by interfering with antibody binding to its intended target. Carrier-free antibodies eliminate the possibility of off-target antibody binding to BSA, improving assay sensitivity and specificity. Immunoassays that benefit from the use of carrier-free antibodies include:
- Immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry
- Immunoprecipitation
- Mass cytometry – CyTOF, imaging mass cytometry
