Product Description

REA (repressor of estrogen receptor activity), also known as prohibitin 2, has been shown to exhibit a variety of functions that includes mitochondrial chaperone activity, cell cycle regulation, and transcriptional regulation. REA localizes to the mitochondria and associates with mitochondrial complex I where it may play a role in mitochondrial metabolism. REA interacts with pRb to inhibit E2F-mediated transcription as well as the estrogen receptor to repress estrogen-dependent transcription via recruitment of histone deacetylases.

Production & Epitope

Antibody was affinity purified using an epitope specific to REA immobilized on solid support.

The epitope recognized by IHC-00051 maps to a region between residue 1 and 50 of human Repressor of Estrogen Activity (Prohibitin 2) using the numbering given in entry NP_009204.1 (GeneID 11331).

Applications

Epitope exposure is recommended.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC)1:100 - 1:500
