Additional Product Information

BRCA2 was identified as a gene with germline mutations that predisposes women to breast cancer. An important function of BRCA2 involves its direct interaction with RAD51 and the process of homologous recombination in DNA double strand break repair. BRCA2 and BRCA1 primary sequences are not similar; however the proteins exhibit similar patterns of expression and sub-cellular localization. Although the phenotype of disruptions of BRCA2 is similar to BRCA1, BRCA2 appears to possess functions distinct from BRCA1.

Alternate Names

BRCA1/BRCA2-containing complex, subunit 2; BRCC2; breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility gene, early onset; breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility protein 2; breast cancer 2 tumor suppressor; breast cancer 2, early onset; breast cancer type 2 susceptibility protein; BROVCA2; FACD; FAD; FAD1; FANCD; FANCD1; Fanconi anemia group D1 protein; GLM3; mutant BRCA2; PNCA2; truncated breast cancer 2; XRCC11

Applications

All western blot analysis is performed using 5% Milk-TBST for blocking and as antibody diluent. Primary antibody is incubated overnight.

Western blots of immunoprecipitates are performed using Goat anti-Rabbit Light Chain HRP Conjugate (Cat. No. A120-113P) with 5% Normal Pig Serum (Cat. No. S100-020) added to the blocking buffer.
