Product Description

Notch1 is the human homolog of the D. melanogaster Notch gene first reported as the gene responsible for the presence of notches in the wingblades of a specific strain of flies. The Notch protein is a transmembrane receptor that mediates juxtacrine signals between adjacent cells. Mammalian Notch1 ligands include Delta-like and Jagged. Upon ligand binding, Notch1 undergoes two proteolytic cleavage events that result in the release of the intracellular Notch1 domain and its translocation to the nucleus where it can participate in gene transactivation. Notch 1 signals mediate cellular fate, differentiation, and development.

Production & Epitope

Antibody was affinity purified using an epitope specific to Notch1 immobilized on solid support.

The epitope recognized by IHC-00538 maps to a region between residue 2505 and 2555 of human Notch ortholog 1, translocation-associated using the numbering given in entry NP_060087.3 (GeneID 4851).

Immunoglobulin concentration was determined using Beer’s Law where 1mg/mL IgG has an A280 of 1.4.

Applications

Epitope exposure is recommended.

Epitope exposure with citrate buffer will enhance staining.

Likely to work with frozen sections.

In some cases, the antibody may be diluted further than indicated.
