Product Description

The regulation of GTPase activity is achieved via activators called GEFs (guanine-nucleotide exchange factors) and inactivators called GAPs (GTPase-activating proteins). Ran-specific GTPase-activating protein 1 (RanGAP1) induces the GTPase activity of the RAN small GTPase. The Ran GTPase plays a role in spatial information and nucleocytoplasmic transport. RanGAP1 is the antagonist of the GEF RCC1 which keeps RAN in the active GTP-bound state.

Production & Epitope

Antibody was affinity purified using an epitope specific to RanGAP1 immobilized on solid support.

The epitope recognized by IHC-00586 maps to a region between residue 400 and 450 of human Ran GTPase activating protein 1 using the numbering given in entry NP_002874.1 (GeneID 5905).

Immunoglobulin concentration was determined using Beer’s Law where 1mg/mL IgG has an A280 of 1.4.

Applications

Epitope exposure is recommended.

Epitope exposure with citrate buffer or tris-EDTA pH9.0 buffer will enhance staining.

Likely to work with frozen sections.

In some cases, the antibody may be diluted further than indicated.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC)1:100 - 1:500
