Antibody was affinity purified using an epitope specific to Symplekin immobilized on solid support.

The epitope recognized by A301-463A-T maps to a region between residue 200 and 250 of human Symplekin using the numbering given in entry NP_004810.2 (GeneID 8189).

Immunoglobulin concentration was determined using Beer’s Law where 1mg/mL IgG has an A280 of 1.4.

Symplekin is a component of tight junctions that also localizes to the nucleus and is a component of 3’-end processing machinery. As part of the mRNA 3’-end processing machinery symplekin is necessary for poly(A) tail elongation. Although histone mRNA 3’ends are not polyadenylated, symplekin has been shown to also play a role in 3’end maturation of histone mRNAs.
