Product Description

The nuclear pore complex (NPC) is a structure that spans the nuclear envelope and provides a conduit between the nucleus and cytoplasm for the nucleocytoplasmic transport of macromolecules. The main components of the NPC are nucleoporins. There are about 30 different human Nups that have been identified. Nup50 (also called Npap60) appears to not be a fixed structural component of the NPC. Nup50 has been shown to be a component of the importin complex, a protein carrier complex that imports cargo from the cytoplasm to the nucleus through the NPC. In this complex, Nup50 appears to have importance in the late stages of import and functions in complex disassembly and importin recycling.

Production & Epitope

Antibody was affinity purified using an epitope specific to NUP50 immobilized on solid support.

The epitope recognized by IHC-00349 maps to a region between residue 418 and 468 of human nucleoporin 50kDa using the numbering given in entry NP_009103.2 (GeneID 10762).

Immunoglobulin concentration was determined using Beer’s Law where 1mg/mL IgG has an A280 of 1.4.

Applications

Epitope exposure is recommended.

Epitope exposure with citrate buffer will enhance staining.

Likely to work with frozen sections.

In some cases, the antibody may be diluted further than indicated.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC)1:100 - 1:500
