Production Procedures

Antibody was affinity purified using an epitope specific to SPTAN1/Alpha II-spectrin immobilized on solid support.

The epitope recognized by IHC-00259 maps to a region between residue 2422 and 2472 of human spectrin, alpha, non-erythrocytic 1 using the numbering given in entry NP_003118.1 (GeneID 6709).

Immunoglobulin concentration was determined using Beer’s Law where 1mg/mL IgG has an A280 of 1.4.

Additional Product Information

SPTAN1/Alpha II-spectrin is one of two polypeptide chains (alpha and beta) that are part of the fodrin tetramer. Fodrin functions to link actin filaments to the plasma membrane and is a major neuronal cytoskeletal protein. Fodrin has been linked to neurogenerative and autoimmune diseases.

Alternate Names

alpha-fodrin; alpha-II spectrin; EIEE5; epididymis secretory sperm binding protein; fodrin alpha chain; NEAS; spectrin alpha chain, non-erythrocytic 1; spectrin, non-erythroid alpha chain; spectrin, non-erythroid alpha subunit; SPTA2

Applications

Epitope exposure is recommended.

Epitope exposure with citrate buffer will enhance staining.

Likely to work with frozen sections.

In some cases, the antibody may be diluted further than indicated.
